Today we learned about Distributive Property. We explored this property using bar models. Great job everyone!

We will take Common Assessment #3 on Friday so we will be reviewing tomorrow.

Tuesday 11/29

Today we explored algebraic expressions. We had to figure out how much it would cost for a graduation party and create an algebraic expression that fit our problem.

Monday 11/28

Today we worked on MATHia to get back in the swing of things! It is always tough coming back to school after a break. 

This week, we have our Common Assessment #3 so we will be preparing for that.

Friday 11/18

Today we watched A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving in class today. Since everyone has been working hard this semester so far, we deserved a movie day!

Thursday 11/17

Today we worked on bringing Math outdoors with a 3-Act Math lesson on Pythagorean Theorem. We banned together with Mrs. Baze's 8th grade class and were able to learn a fun, interesting 8th grade concept! 

All of the students did an awesome job participating and collaborating with their peers. I really enjoyed seeing all the effort that took place today!

Wednesday 11/16

Today we completed our Shopping and Percents Project. I loved everyone's flyers and stores! Great job and I hope you enjoyed the project!

Tuesday 11/15

Today we went shopping! We went to everyone's "store" and brought 5 items on our shopping trip. We were given the original price and discount (% off) but we had to figure out the sale price. If you did not finish, you will do this for homework and turn it in tomorrow!

Monday 11/14

Today we finished up our shopping flyer and answer key for our prices. If you did not finish in class, you must finish at home and bring your flyer and answer key tomorrow. We will be shopping tomorrow so we need to have everyone's flyers!

Thursday 11/10

Today we worked on our Shopping and Percents Project. The flyers are looking great everyone!

We also learned about Veterans Day through a short, fun video. We often do not know why we have days off and what are the meanings behind those holidays. If you would like to view the video again, it is on the left! 

Everyone have a safe, enjoyable 3 day weekend and thank a veteran!

Wednesday 11/9

Today we started a Shopping and Percents Project in class. Each student has to create a store flyer with 5 items that they are selling and the percent discounts. Every store is having a sale so items are 25%, 50%, 75%, etc off! We spent the class time creating our fliers and picking which items we want in our store. We will be continuing this project for the next 4 days of class. I can't wait to see everyone's store and items!

Wow it's been a crazy 2 weeks! I was absent at math trainings so you worked on MATHia and FACEing Math for the days I was gone. Thank you for being great for the subs!

Thursday 11/3

Today we learned some more rules about find percents and rates. We solved some problems using whichever method worked best for the problem and ourselves! We have so many great tools (strategies) in our math tool box that we can use the tool that works best for the job and the one we like the most!

Today we worked in Desmos and explored percent bar models a bit further. We learned how create different bar models with different percents. It's always fun when we are able to work in Desmos!

Today we worked on percents and rates using bar models. We were able to find fractions of numbers by using bar models to help us. We are learning so many new great strategies to find percents!
